A panel of experts from the American Psychiatric Association are re-evaluating the definition of autism currently published in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
As reported in the New York Times the idea of redefining autism has many people concerned. Many parents are concerned that the new definition of autism will not include their child. If that were to occur insurance companies may no longer cover therapies for their child.
