What Friendship Circle Means To Me

A smile. Two simple words. Two simple words that mean a lot.Two simple words that can make someone’s day so much better.A smile shows you care.A smile shows you’re there for someone.A smile is what comes to my face the minute I think of Friendship Circle. This place has not only changed my life, but it’s changed many lives.A smile is on everyone’s face the minute they walk into the doors of Friendship Circle. It’s like walking into a big giant hug.

I was told to describe Friendship Circle in a speech.Describe what it has done for me, what it has done for others, experiences I’ve had, what I’ve contributed, and anything else.I honestly just want to say, that I can’t.Not in a speech. To get the feeling of Friendship Circle you have to experience it for yourself.Actions speak louder than words.I’m not going to just leave you here wondering what I’ve experienced, I just want you to get out there and experience it for yourself.

I have a lot of special friends at Friendship Circle. One of them I know particularly well.I’ve worked with him the past year and this is my second year working with him.His name is Nick. And I believe he is the smartest person I know. Why?Let’s just say he pretty much knows everyone’s name. He’s very anxious to meet new people. If there’s someone in the room that he doesn’t know, he will go up to that person, shake their hand, smile, and ask their name.I promise you the next time you speak to him, he will definitely remember your name.

He also loves basketball.I know this because that’s all he does is practice. It’s his favorite sport. He’s also really good at it.He never misses a basket.

Nick can be hesitant to try something new.Last year, we went bowling and they put the bumpers down.Nick had never tried playing without bumpers, so he was a little nervous.Let’s just say he walked out with two strikes and one spare.I guess basketball isn’t his only good sport.

I’ve been with Nick for a year now. This is my second.I was his friend last year, and will always be, but I want to do more for him.I recently noticed that one of Nick’s weaknesses is also one of my weaknesses. We both have a hard time of looking people directly in the eye when we’re talking.I feel, I not only could help him, but he could help me too. That’s what Friendship Circle is, helping everyone, even helping volunteers.Everyone at Friendship Circle is treated the same.No matter where you come from, what you look like, what you act like, everyone is equal at Friendship Circle.

A smile. Two simple words that can make everything better. Two simple words that can save a life.By putting a smile to someone’s face you are making a difference.Being the light in this dark world. That’s what I think Friendship Circle is, a light in this dark world.Because one thing that they are doing is putting a smile to many peoples’ faces.
