How a company treats employees with special needs [VIDEO]
Call Yachol has a vision is to employ thousands of people with disabilities in a countrywide distribution of call centers, leading a much-needed and important revolution in the employment of people with disabilities in Israel.
A unique business empowers people with a range of disabilities to succeed in the workplace that traditionally shunned them. Call Yachol is a one-of-a-kind Israeli call center employing 180 Jewish and Arab adults with disabilities. In Hebrew, the name means "Everyone Can."
Psychologist Gil Winch, founder of the venture, says there is no reason for these employees' mental or physical limitations to keep them from excelling on the job. The biggest challenge is not their disabilities but the lack of self-confidence these individuals have after years of being shunned by mainstream employers. In Israel up to 90 percent of severely disabled adults face chronic unemployment.
Winch implemented a parent-based management model where workers are given affection and have scheduled time for team fun. The unusual arrangement has garnered interest from people in several countries looking to replicate the idea.
Now based Rishon Lezion, future Call Yachol centers are planned for Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
By creating a supportive working environment for their employees (a work environment combining technological solutions for a wide range of disabilities, flexible work hours, and professional support staff) and employing a population with a higher than average level of job stability, Call Yachol is able to reduce the costs of personnel turnover for the client and offer a high level of professionalism, contributing to providing excellent service.
