The Great Bike Giveaway is a unique contest that aims to give as many adaptive bikes away as possible. Last year, more than one million people participated in the Great Bike Giveaway and Friendship Circle of Michigan was able to provide 145 children and teens with adaptive bicycles. This year the contest is back and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever!
Our goal for the 2016 Great Bike Giveaway is to give away 600 adaptive bikes, that's 313% (or 455) more bikes than last year! In order to make that happen, some significant changes are being made to the contest structure.

If you have a child with special needs and would like to participate in the Great Bike Giveaway there is a registration process you will need to follow. The process includes:
his year we have 9 Adaptive bike companies giving away 10 different types of bikes. Each bike is unique. You are sure to find a bike that will give your child the ability to experience the thrill of bike riding. If you are unsure of which bike your child will need, please check with your physical therapist to help you make the right decision.

Michaela Noam Kaplan loved riding her adaptive bicycle. After her untimely passing on May 23, 2009, her parents Adam and Gabi dedicated the Great Bike Giveaway to make sure other special needs kids have the opportunity to enjoy bike riding like she did.

600 Adaptive Bikes Will be Given Away in the Great Bike Giveaway
Friendship Circle is excited to announce its 5th annual Great Bike Giveaway! For a child with special needs, bike riding offers far more than a recreational experience. Bike riding provides a source of much-needed exercise, gives therapeutic value and contributes to an inclusive environment where a child with special needs can ride a bike like everyone else. Due to balance and mobility challenges, many children and teens with special needs require the use of adaptive bikes. Sadly, many cannot afford the high costs of adaptive bikes and remain on the sidelines while watching their friends and family members ride by. Friendship Circle is on a mission to raise awareness for the need of adaptive bikes and provide as many of them as possible. Every year, Friendship Circle gives hundreds of children with special needs the opportunity to win a specialized adaptive bike through the Great Bike Giveaway. In 2016, the Great Bike Giveaway is back and bigger than ever! This year, our goal is to give away 600 adaptive bikes to the individuals who need them most! Our mission is to ensure that no child misses out on the freedom, confidence and fun that comes with riding a bike.How the Contest Works

Registration
If you have a child with special needs and would like to participate in the Great Bike Giveaway there is a registration process you will need to follow. The process includes:
- Finding a clear high-resolution image of your child.
- Finding out which adaptive bike your child will need in the Great Bike Giveaway.
- Preparing text on why your child needs an adaptive bike.
- Recruit 10 ambassadors to help spread the word.
